Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the artist who made the art on this web site?
Im Alison Greenhorn, a full time artist dedicated to the processes of creativity. My training includes graphic design and fine art printmaking. My inspiration and sources for art are varied. The images are often symbolic reflecting on various aspects of life, relating on both a personal and universal level.
I made the original images of the limited edition giclee prints on this website in acrylic paint on on paper or canvas.
I also work in a variety of other mediums which include oil paint, acrylic paint, collage, pencil, beeswax, shellac and several printmaking methods, sometimes combining several of these techniques in one image. This layering resonates with the often multi-faceted concepts.
Why should you frame art prints?
Framing your prints is important as it protects them from dust, dirt, light and moisture. Aesthetically, a good frame enhances artwork.
My prints are made on high quality paper that suits being framed behind glass with a generous mat and frame. Alternatively, I sometimes use frame-less perspex mounts. Mat sizes should be generous as small borders can crowd the image. Ultraviolet filtering glass protects the artwork from sunlight damage. Anti-reflection glass is also worth using if there is a lot of light in the area where the work is to be hung.
May I buy prints from you in custom sizes?
If you would like your prints made in a custom size please do not hesitate to contact me by clicking here. I will let you know if it is possible and what the price would be.
The limited edition prints are all printed on paper but certain images can also be printed on an un-stretched fine weave canvas that is suitable for stretching. In this case the images are printed such that, when stretched, the printed area extends around the edges or it can be printed with a white border.
How should I look after the art work I buy from you?
I recommend you keep your prints out of direct sunlight as the harmful UV rays may eventually fade the color and cause the paper to brown. It is also important to keep it away from damp areas as moisture may cause mildew and foxing.
What are the conditions of use for the art work sold on this website?
Purchasing a print from Allys Limited Edition Art allows for display of the art as decoration only and may not be reproduced. If you are interested in using my images for other purposes please contact me.
